Not Every Relationship Calls for the Same Mid-Autumn Gift

Not Every Relationship Calls for the Same Mid-Autumn Gift

Every Mid-Autumn, the same question returns:

What should I bring?

Mooncakes are easy.
A hamper is easy.
Something expensive is easy too.

The harder question is whether the gift actually suits the relationship.

A long-standing client may need something thoughtful, but not excessive.

An old friend may already have enough things. What may matter more is finally finding two quiet hours to sit down together.

And there are people for whom another luxury gift says very little. A rare experience may say more.

  • That is how we approached Mid-Autumn this year.
  • Not by creating another large festive catalogue.
  • We kept it to three ideas.

GIFT

For clients, elders and old friends.
Two aged PuEr tea cakes, individually presented.

Something with age and substance, without making the gesture too heavy.

TABLE

For someone worth making time for.

Two PuEr teas from 2006, matured in Singapore for twenty years, served privately over two unhurried hours.
Sometimes the better gift is not another object.

APPRECIATION

For the person who is difficult to surprise.

A private appreciation of our 1983 Da Hong Pao.

One tea.
One table.
Forty-three years in the cup.

The price of a gift is easy to see.

Its place in a relationship is harder to judge.

This Mid-Autumn, we would start there.
