An Original 1997 Singapore Exhibition Piece

This is not simply a porcelain vase by Wang Huaijun (王怀俊).

It is an original work from his 1997 Singapore exhibition, preserved in Singapore for nearly three decades with documented provenance.

The large-format vase depicts Nüwa Lianshi (女娲炼石图), an accomplished example of Wang Huaijun's celebrated figure painting.

Executed during the mature period of his career, the work combines finely controlled figure painting with the lyrical lines, expression and spirit for which his porcelain figures are particularly admired.

Most importantly, the history of this individual work is documented.

The vase. The original certificate. The photograph of Master Wang Huaijun holding this exact work.

All three remain together today.

Documented Provenance

For an important master work, provenance matters.

This piece is accompanied by the original certificate issued by Pertaco Singapore, the influential organiser of the Singapore exhibition at the time.

It also retains a historical photograph showing Master Wang Huaijun personally holding this exact vase.

The photograph provides a direct visual connection between the artist and the individual work being offered today.

Nearly three decades later, the vase remains in excellent condition, with no restoration or repair.

The artist is documented.
The exhibition is documented.
The individual work is documented.

A Major Figure Work

Figure painting occupies an important place within Wang Huaijun's ceramic art.

In Nüwa Lianshi, the figures, landscape and mythical subject are composed across the substantial porcelain body, giving the work considerably greater visual presence than a smaller cabinet piece.

At approximately 300-jian size, this is a statement work intended to command a room.

Its scale allows the painting to be appreciated both from a distance and at close range, where the handling of faces, robes, movement and fine line work becomes apparent.

This is porcelain made to be lived with, not stored away.

For the Collector — and the Tea Room

A serious tea collection rarely ends with tea.

Over time, the space grows around it: Yixing teapots, Jian Ware, iron kettles, paintings, sculpture and works of porcelain.

Some pieces are used.

Others define the room in which everything else is appreciated.

This Wang Huaijun vase belongs to the latter.

Placed in a private tea room, study or collection space, it becomes more than decoration — it establishes the character of the room.

Tea brings us to the table.
Collecting grows around it.

Collector's Note

Works by an established master can be found again.

The history attached to a particular work cannot.

This vase brings together an important Wang Huaijun figure subject, substantial scale, a documented 1997 Singapore exhibition history, its original certificate, and a period photograph connecting the artist directly to the physical work.

That combination is what distinguishes it from another Wang Huaijun porcelain appearing on the market.

One artist. One documented exhibition. One known work.

The vase photographed is the exact work offered for collection.
