PAINTED BY THE ARTIST HERSELF

This is not simply a Jian Zhan carrying an artist’s name.

The Shoutao — Longevity Peach — decoration was personally painted by Yang Feiyan 杨飞燕.

The work is accompanied not only by its certificate, but also by photographs of the artist holding the finished bowl and a short video documenting the painting process.

For the collector, that gives this particular piece something especially valuable:

clear authorship and clear provenance.

You can see who painted it.

And you can see this specific bowl being created.

SHOUTAO|寿桃

The peach has long been associated in Chinese culture with longevity, blessing and good fortune.

Yang Feiyan’s treatment is light and refined rather than heavily decorative.

Soft peach tones are balanced by delicate branches and blue-green leaves, allowing the painting to sit naturally against the pale body of the bowl.

The result feels closer to a small painted porcelain work than a conventional dark Jian Zhan.

Traditional meaning.
A lighter contemporary expression.

A DIFFERENT GLAZE EXPERIENCE

This bowl is also technically different from the typical Jian Zhan most collectors first encounter.

Rather than the darker, more characteristic ash-based Jian glaze appearance, both the interior and exterior have a smooth, porcelain-like glazed surface.

The interior is especially restrained — pale, clean and quiet.

Over time and with repeated use, the glaze can gradually develop fine crackle lines — 开片.

That means the surface does not remain visually static.

Tea, water, heat and time slowly bring out another layer of character.

You buy one appearance today.
Time gradually creates another.

For someone who enjoys using collectible teaware rather than simply displaying it, that ageing process is part of the pleasure.

MADE TO CHANGE WITH USE

Many collectible bowls look their best on the day they are purchased.

This one has another attraction.

The more it is used, the more individual the glaze can become.

Fine crackle patterns develop naturally across the porcelain-like surface, creating subtle lines that were not fully present when the bowl was new.

No two used pieces will age in exactly the same way.

The artist completes the painting.

Time completes the surface.

AN ACCESSIBLE ARTIST-PAINTED PIECE

At approximately 89 × 55 mm, YFY043 is comfortable as a personal tea bowl.

And at S$420, it offers a relatively accessible way to own a piece that combines:

artist-painted decoration
documented painting process
artist holding photograph
certificate
and an evolving crackle glaze

It does not need to compete with higher-priced master Jian Zhan.

Its appeal is much simpler:

a genuine artist-painted piece that you can actually use and watch change over time.
