MADE TO USE. WORTHY TO KEEP.
A serious Yixing teapot should work beautifully before anything else.
This Qiu Yun teapot by Tang Xuanwu 汤宣武 is made from original ore Zini purple clay, with a rounded, balanced form and restrained traditional character.
Tang Xuanwu is now a Professor-level Senior Arts and Crafts Artist (正高级工艺美术师), attaining this professional rank in 2025.
Her work also sits within an established contemporary Yixing circle through her husband and teacher, Fan Zefeng 范泽锋, whose own lineage connects to important Yixing masters including Fan Weiqun 范伟群 and Bao Zhiqiang 鲍志强.
For collectors, the maker matters.
But so does the pot itself.
QIU YUN|秋韵
Qiu Yun — “Autumn Rhythm” — has a quiet, rounded silhouette.
The body opens gently from the base, with the spout, handle and lid following the same restrained rhythm.
There is no need for an exaggerated form.
Its appeal lies in:
proportion, balance and ease.
It is the kind of Yixing teapot that becomes more convincing through use rather than demanding attention from across the room.
ORIGINAL ORE ZINI|原矿紫泥
The teapot is made from original ore Zini, one of the classic clay materials of Yixing.
Its warm purple-brown tone suits the understated Qiu Yun form particularly well.
The clay, proportion and simple surface work together without unnecessary decoration.
Traditional material.
Quiet form.
A pot designed to age naturally through tea.
MADE FOR TEA
One quality we particularly value in Tang Xuanwu’s teapots is their practical performance.
The pour is clean, smooth and fluent.
That distinction matters.
A collectible Yixing teapot should not become something that is only admired behind glass.
It should still make you want to brew tea.
TXW001 can do both.
Good to use today.
Good to keep for the long term.
WHY THIS EARLIER WORK MATTERS
TXW001 is an earlier-period work by Tang Xuanwu, made before she attained her current Professor-level professional rank in 2025.
That gives this piece an interesting position for collectors.
Earlier works were created at a stage when Tang Xuanwu’s professional standing and market pricing had not yet reached their current level.
They therefore offer a different way to enter the artist’s work:
the maker is now more established,
while the earlier work remains more accessible.
This does not make every earlier pot automatically more collectible.
The individual work still matters.
But when the form is good, the workmanship is mature and the pot is genuinely pleasant to use, an earlier-period piece can make a very sensible addition to a collection.
At S$2,200, TXW001 offers exactly that position.
Earlier period.
Established maker.
More accessible entry.
