The Giant Wheel Bead, also known as Ju Lun Zhu, traces its origin back to the late Qing Dynasty, gaining popularity particularly after being exported to the tea communities of Japan and Taiwan. 

Its appeal lies in the contrast it presents to the traditional aesthetic of Yixing pottery. Characterized by its raw and unrefined appearance, the Giant Wheel Bead's bold and seemingly unfinished design resonated deeply with the Japanese tea ceremony, where imperfection is celebrated as an integral part of beauty. Seen as an embodiment of Eastern aesthetic principles, it seamlessly integrates with the tea ceremony and the natural landscape, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between nature's beauty and human emotions. 

During the tea ceremony, the unique appearance of the Giant Wheel Bead harmonizes with the tea environment, creating a distinctive and serene atmosphere. This imbues the teapot with a deeper significance and value, beyond its utilitarian function.

器型

巨轮珠,又称具轮珠,造型起源可以追溯到清末时期,尤其在出口到日本和台湾茶界后备受欢迎。

原因是日本人对于紫砂壶的设计理念与宜兴传统存在一定差异,粗放的设计,以及看起来未经过修整、不完美的特点,使巨轮珠在器型上受到了日本茶道的广泛的推崇和使用, 并将其视为一种具有东方美学风格的艺术品,与茶道相结合,与自然景观融为一体,强调了自然美与人文情感的共生关系。
在茶道仪式中,巨轮珠的独特外观与茶席环境相得益彰,营造出一种独特而和谐的氛围,使得巨轮珠有着更深层次的意义和价值。

巨轮珠作为一种对于东方审美的新诠释,它摒弃了传统均衡之美,和精细的手工工艺中的明针修饰等步骤,,突出了不完美和未完成的审美特点,以实用性和非传统的设计,让它成为独具魅力的紫砂壶的另类代表。

泥料

原矿朱泥,胎骨坚硬而沉实,色泽朱红略泛桔光,温润透明质感之佳,与清中期好的朱泥无异;大器无法烧成,小品烧成后穀皱纹隐现,颇具古代朱泥风华。
朱泥的土质成份,其特色是含有极高的氧化铁,约在14%到18%之间,这是朱泥烧成后壶身成为红色的主要原因。
由于朱泥的泥性甚娇,成型工艺难度亦高,而朱泥由生坯至烧成,因收缩率高达30%至40%,故一般成品良率约仅七成。 温馨提醒:朱泥壶使用前须先温壶。

【难度】较易跳砂、变型、窑裂;泥胚疏松故成型易开裂,结合较难掌握,制作时开口易掉砂,细部处理须高技巧与耐心。收缩比率大、成品率低、大器难烧成

【特点】周身密布粗犷颗粒,形成特殊风格;红润又具砂感,器身明显成双气孔结构,空气对流顺畅,别于一般陶器;质朴拙雅,美冠群伦,人气之佳历数百年而不衰

【冲茗特性】热淋变色率高,养后愈显红润,易现包浆之美;亲茶性高,冲茗醇厚甘甜,易掌时间,不熟汤气,隔夜不馊

【冲泡建议】乌龙,铁观音,普洱茶,绿茶等
